Secca del Careno
Also known as: Careno Rock
The ridge rises from a plateau at around 18 m with large boulders and continues as a long wall of canyons, crevices and vertical faces. Yellow and red gorgonians and encrusting sponges colour the rock, which hides lobsters and squat lobsters. The real show is the fish: dentex, large barracuda and bonito swim between wall and plateau, and eagle rays and tuna are not rare. Only part of the ridge fits into one dive, so it is usually visited more than once. The Marciana municipality placed dedicated mooring buoys here.
