Lo Scoglione
Also known as: Scoglione Rock
Boats moor in the lee of the rock, sheltered in almost any sea state, on Capraia's typical black volcanic sand. The descent follows the walls of the rock to Posidonia at about 12 m, then out along rocky ridges split by deep cracks and canyons full of damselfish. Sponges, bryozoans and nudibranchs cover the walls, and dentex hunt along the ridges. Groupers, brown meagre, forkbeards and large morays hide in the fissures, while barracuda work the shallows on the south side. The many ledges let each diver choose a depth.
