Tairapa Pass

Also known as: Turipaoa Pass

Manihi has only one pass, and it is dived as a drift carried by the incoming current into the lagoon. Wannadive lists a varied cast for the pass: tuna, barracuda, grey and blacktip sharks, jacks, humphead wrasse, triggerfish, moray eels and groupers, together with manta and eagle rays. Tahiti Tourisme highlights the manta rays and notes that the dive goes to about 25 m. In June thousands of groupers gather here to spawn, according to the tourism board. Wannadive describes the route as leading from the wall to the area known as The Circus.
