Otugi Pass

Also known as: Otugi

Toau has no dive centre and no airstrip, so its passes are dived on day trips from Fakarava or from liveaboard catamarans. Otugi is a drift dive where the current can be very strong; there is little coral in the pass itself, but grey reef sharks and silvertip sharks are always around. O2 Fakarava also reports whitetip and silky sharks, the chance of a hammerhead or tiger shark, dolphins, and humpback whales passing between July and September. The Aqua Tiki liveaboard enters Toau through this turbulent pass on its Tuamotu cruises.
