Black Coral Garden

Mantabuan is the smallest island of the park, and its outer slope descends gently at first before dropping steeply towards the black coral garden. The name refers to the dark skeleton of the coral, while the living colonies show pale or bright colours. Bigfin Divers suggests searching the branches for minute saw-blade shrimps. Crinoids and painted lobsters line the outer slope, and Mantabuan's reefs are known for manta, eagle and devil rays when the current picks up.
