HMS Roedean
Also known as: Rodean
HMS Roedean, formerly the Roebuck, sank in Longhope Bay in a gale in 1915 and was cleared with explosives in the 1950s to remove her superstructure. The wreck is well broken but stays within its original outline on a mud and silt bottom, lying east-west with the bow pointing west. Two large Scotch boilers midships stand about four metres proud and form the most intact part, and a buoy marks them. The stern keeps its hull shape better than the fragmented bow, which is surrounded by chain, plating and ribs.
