La Bramassa
Also known as: Grotte della Bramassa
Within about a hundred metres of coast, collapsed limestone blocks have fused into caverns with many openings that let in shafts of sunlight. One cave has several rooms that reach up to the surface through small siphons. Photographers value the light effects, and narrower passages lead on to dark chambers for cave-trained divers. Spiny lobsters live inside, octopuses are common in June to August, and amberjack visit in late summer. The bay is sheltered and the water usually clear.
