Grotta di Falco
Also known as: Falco Cave · Ennio Falco Cave · Grotta di Amphitrite · Grotta di Anfitrite · Grotta Falco
First called the cave of Amphitrite, it was later named after the diving pioneer Ennio Falco, remembered by a marble plaque in the inner air chamber. Two wide entrances reach from the surface to about 15 m, and the exit stays in view for much of the dive. Red coral grows on the ceilings from as shallow as about 4 to 8 m, a rare sight. Through a siphon divers reach a small lake, leave their gear and walk about fifty metres among stalactites and stalagmites. Groupers, conger eels and lobsters live in the cave, and large groupers often shelter near the exit of the second chamber.
