Tak Be Luum

A large platform in the dry part of the grotto leads into the water, and the route makes a wide circle around the cenote. The odd formations look as if the rock had been moulded and then scorched, and a passage on the route is called the Gate of Hell. The bottom is covered in silt dunes, and a thin hydrogen sulphide layer lies on the floor near the start. Its darkness and organic debris feed rare blind fish, along with tetras, cichlids and catfish.
