Testa del Leone
Also known as: Lion's Head
The submerged slope first reaches a gently inclined area at 15 to 20 m with algae-covered boulders, where seabream, dentex, groupers and barracuda move around. Just below starts a wall riddled with holes and crevices, home to moray and conger eels, large lobsters and squat lobsters, and decorated with red coral, cup corals and sea daisies. The wall continues down to about 35 m and more. Higher up, a small cave with a narrow entrance rises upward, and Diving Group Portofino describes a freshwater spring inside that creates a halocline. The eastern side is a rockfall with large overhanging boulders that divers can swim beneath.
