Sunabe Seawall

Also known as: Sunabe Sea Wall

A long concrete seawall built against typhoons lines the coast of Sunabe, and its stairs give access to several named entries. Unlike most Okinawan reefs, which are dominated by hard coral, the reef here is covered in soft corals in pink, orange, yellow and purple over a very large area. The shallow reef is rich in macro life such as nudibranchs, shrimp, crabs, octopus and cuttlefish, and a school of barracuda is often seen. An underwater post box sits in shallow water and is a favourite with first-time divers. Because the entries are right by the street and conditions are usually calm, Sunabe is a favourite area for night dives.
