HM Drifter Eddy

Also known as: HMS Drifter Eddy · HMD Eddy

The 27 m minesweeper had been clearing a channel of mines laid by Italian boats when she struck one herself. The mine left a large hole on the starboard side near the stern that is wide enough to swim through into the hold. The upper structure, largely made of wood, has fallen in over the years, and silt inside the wreck can reduce visibility to nothing. The wreck lies about 1.5 km off the Grand Harbour entrance, where ship traffic makes the dive hazardous.
