Gudrun Gisladottir

Also known as: MV Gudrun Gisladottir

The Icelandic trawler, built in 2001, struck the bottom in Nappstraumen in June 2002; she was taken in tow toward land the next day but sank near Ballstad. A long political debate about raising her followed, yet in the end only part of her oil was pumped out and the wreck stayed where it was. She sits on her keel heeled to starboard and is described as being in even better shape than the Hadsel. There is a lot of detail to explore, and divers can get into the wheelhouse. The site is exposed, and heavy swell can occasionally be felt even at depth.
