Hamburg

Also known as: D/S Hamburg · SS Hamburg · DS Hamburg · MS Hamburg Wreck

Hamburg lay at anchor in Svolvær when British and Norwegian forces raided Lofoten in March 1941; according to Dykkepedia her own crew opened the sea valves to sink her. The wreck rests on its starboard side in the industrial harbour between the Skarvik yard and the ferry quay, stern toward the shore. The shallow part has partly fallen in and the stern has been blasted away, but the hull is in better shape further down, and much of the wooden deck survives. Divers can swim through a large gap in the bridge, and anemones cover the whole bow. Visibility in the harbour is sometimes poor.
