The Aquarium

At the north-western point of Long Caye the reef turns east, and long coral ridges separated by sandy canyons run out towards the wall. The ridges are full of holes and grottos, so animals that hide deeper in the reef elsewhere, such as crinoids, are easy to see here near the wall crest. Deep-water lace coral and black coral grow on the upper part of the wall, and parrotfish graze the reef top. Schools of yellowtail snappers and sergeant majors gather around divers. Currents can sweep across the reef top while the wall itself is often calm.
