Half Moon Caye Wall

Also known as: Half Moon Wall · Half Moon Cay Wall

Half Moon Caye Wall lies off the island that holds a red-footed booby colony and has been protected as a natural monument since 1982. Divers drop onto a sloping sand flat where a large colony of garden eels lives, then cross a narrow rim of coral spurs cut by grooves and short tunnels to reach the outer wall. The wall itself is covered in barrel and tube sponges, sea fans and hard corals and drops far beyond recreational depth. Spotted eagle rays, turtles and Caribbean reef sharks are regular sightings, and large groupers patrol the reef. Day trips usually dive it straight after the Blue Hole, so a conservative profile is advised.
