Long Caye Ridge

Also known as: Long Cay Ridge

Long Caye Ridge takes its name from a ridge of reef that sticks out as a small promontory north of Tres Cocos. Spur-and-groove formations lead straight to the wall, which drops into very deep water. Large colourful sponges and gorgonians cover the edge, and the deeper wall is shingled with sheet coral, wire coral and small black coral trees. Spotted filefish, blennies, crabs and lobsters hide in the recesses, and damselfish defend their algae gardens on the reef top.
