Old Airport
Also known as: Old Kona Airport
Old Airport is named after the beach park that served as Kona's airport until the mid-1970s, and the dive starts from the north end of the old runway. After a short swim over a shallow shelf, divers descend in about 6 to 8 m of water. A small wall to the right is a good place for the endemic Hawaiian lionfish, eels and eagle rays, while an archway lies across the sand patch to the south in shallow water. Small caves and lava tubes add interest, and manta rays occasionally pass. The site should not be entered at low tide because the entry bay is very shallow, and the park gate has fixed opening hours.

Vote for the name divers really use. Divers who logged a dive here count double. The votes are counted every night, and the main name only changes when another name has led clearly for a week.
