Turtle Pinnacle

Turtle Pinnacle is one of the best places on the coast to watch green sea turtles being cleaned. The turtles settle at the base of the pinnacle, sometimes queueing for their turn, while kole tangs pick algae off their shells. Coral growth around the pinnacles is healthy, and goatfish, squirrelfish, butterflyfish and angelfish, moray eels and octopus live in the reef. Spinner dolphins sometimes pass, and parts of the IMAX film 'Coral Sea 3D' were shot here. The site is shallow enough for a long, relaxed dive and the PADI blog calls it ideal for beginners.
