Kaiwi Point

Kaiwi Point can only be reached by boat, so it sees fewer divers than the shore sites. The area holds four moored sites usually called Wash Rock, Sand Chute, Arch Cave and Kamanu. Divers find large mounds and cauliflower-shaped coral formations, a lava wall rising from the bottom to the surface, a lava arch above a boulder field and a round cavern with small skylights. A steep drop-off gives open views over clear blue water, where manta rays, sharks and even humpback whales have been seen. Trumpetfish, triggerfish and trevally patrol the reef.
