Castle Rock

Castle Rock rises from deep water to about 3 to 5 m below the surface in the exposed north of the park. Guides usually drop in up current with a negative entry and descend quickly to hold on at the split, where reef sharks, giant trevally, mackerel, tuna and surgeonfish swirl in the current. Visibility is often excellent, and dolphins are occasionally seen hunting at the site. The slopes carry soft corals and gorgonian fans that host pygmy seahorses, and the boulders at the top give shelter for the safety stop. The currents are among the strongest in the north, so operators reserve the site for advanced divers and time it around the tide.
