USS John Penn

Also known as: John Penn

The USS John Penn went down while anchored off Lunga Point near Honiara. The hull rests on its starboard side, and the stern broke off during the sinking and lies some distance away. Most dives visit the bow section, the bridge and forward guns, where ammunition still spills out of lockers. Schools of pelagic fish gather around the wreck and corals have colonised the structure. It is a war grave and divers are asked to treat it with respect.
