USS Aaron Ward

The Aaron Ward was escorting landing craft when bombs hit it during Operation I-Go. Its 5-inch guns still point upward, showing the ship's final fight. Visibility on the wreck is often good. Grey reef sharks cruise in mid-water, and batfish, trevally and barracuda school around the hull. It is best dived at slack tide.
