Conch Reef

Also known as: Conch Wall

Conch Reef combines a shallow reef with a wall whose top lies at about 45 to 55 feet and slopes past 100 feet. Rainbow Reef rates the wall drift as the better dive and reports manta rays and Caribbean reef sharks, while Scuba-Fun mentions reef sharks, spotted eagle rays and swim-through contours. A sanctuary preservation area protects the shallower part down to 45 feet. NOAA notes that the adjacent Conch Reef Conservation Area may not be entered without a special permit, and Rainbow Reef places the Aquarius undersea base next to the reef.
