Le Rubis

The 66 m Saphir-class submarine could lay mines without surfacing and served in Norwegian waters in the Second World War, then trained young sailors as an underwater base until the navy sank her as a sonar target. The hull is remarkably well preserved and its open hatches let divers look inside, though Wannadive advises against entering because of entanglement risk and silt. Groupers, spiny lobsters, moray and conger eels live on the wreck, and sunfish and eagle rays are sometimes seen. Currents can be present both at the surface and on the wreck, and Mio Palmo notes the best visibility in July to September.
