Le Marcel

The steamer had sailed as San Augustin and Santiga before the Marseille company Mouriès renamed her Marcel; she was bound for Nice when the Durance struck her, and all passengers and crew were rescued. The wreck has collapsed onto a muddy bottom, but the slender bow still rises about 4 to 5 m with some deck beams. The site is sheltered with weak currents and offers refuge to many fish. In winter and spring small-spotted catsharks use it to breed.
