La Barge aux Congres
Also known as: La Tantine
The barge, 15 to 20 m long without engine or propeller, sank while being towed with building materials for the Manoir hotel on Port-Cros, and bricks and a motor pump still lie beside it. The crane rises 3 to 4 m above the sand. In the 1990s the wreck was known for its very large conger eels that came close to divers, but their numbers have fallen since feeding stopped and fishing reduced them; forkbeards, moray eels and red mullet remain. Depth and possible current make it a dive for advanced divers.
