Portuguese Rock
Portuguese Rock is a very rocky area close to the island with a sandy bottom, small caves, mini walls and crevices. Large sheephead, lobsters, ocean whitefish, calico bass and kelp bass live around the rocks. The sand holds unusual critters that interest macro photographers. The site borders the eastern edge of the seasonal Pelican Reserve and lies in the Anacapa Island conservation area.
