Pelican Reserve

Also known as: Pelican Roosting Area · Pelican Preserve

To protect nesting brown pelicans, this stretch of West Anacapa's north side is closed to people and boats from January to October, out to a depth of 120 ft. The rare access makes the dive feel untouched. Shallow rocky reef gives way to a steep slope of sand and rock outcrops, with friendly sheephead, lobsters and halibut. Underwater Photography Guide recommends it for macro, juvenile fish and uncommon critters.
