Flynn Reef
Flynn Reef is one of the most visited outer reefs on day boats and liveaboards out of Cairns. Its shallow coral gardens sit at around 5 metres, while the outer edges drop to walls of about 18 to 20 metres. Divers find swim-throughs, overhangs and maze-like coral structures covered in staghorn, table, plate and boulder corals plus many soft corals. Turtles, whitetip reef sharks, moray eels, giant clams and schools of fusiliers are regular sightings. Named sites on the reef include Tracy's Bommie, Gordon's Mooring, Tennis Courts and Coral Gardens.
