The mouth of the channel is a favoured night dive because of its busy fish life. Large sea fans grow near the bottom, and the sheltered inner walls hold hard and soft corals in very good condition, with swim-throughs and overhangs. Around the entrance the sand is scattered with artillery shells and other wartime ammunition, plus a Japanese torpedo and a machine gun. Reef sharks are often seen at the entrance, and nurse sharks hide in crevices. Tidal water from nearby mangroves can reduce visibility.
