HMCS Cape Breton
Also known as: ARE 100
The ship was built at the Burrard Drydock in North Vancouver and later served the Royal Canadian Navy as a maintenance vessel before the Artificial Reef Society of British Columbia prepared and sank it in 2001. It settled upright close to the HMCS Saskatchewan, which makes the pair one of the best known double wreck dives in Canada. Its tall superstructure means the crow's nest can be reached at around 12 m while the main deck lies near 30 m and the bottom near 44 m. Large access holes were cut into the hull during preparation. Plumose anemones now cover the upper decks, and sculpins, yelloweye rockfish, lingcod and octopus are regular sightings.
