Race Rocks
Race Rocks is known for exceptional marine biodiversity and has been protected since 1980 as an ecological reserve managed jointly by BC Parks and Pearson College. Underwater the craggy pinnacles, such as Helicopter Rock, are covered with ivory plumose anemones. Giant Pacific octopus live among the rocks, and young Steller sea lions like to play with divers. Dive charters reach it from Pedder Bay and Victoria, and hook-and-line fishing near Great Race Rock and shellfish harvesting are prohibited.
