Secca di Punta Secca
Also known as: Punta Secca Shoal
Groupers large and small and, in spring, John Dory swim around the mooring chain on the shallow top. Heading north-west, divers cross a sandy plateau with algae and Posidonia that slopes gently to the first gorgonians. The wall below is covered in sponges, bryozoans and colourful gorgonians, with lobsters, morays, congers, melon urchins and basket stars. Dentex and amberjacks can turn up at any depth. Nearby, a field of small boulders covered in hydroids hosts many resident John Dory.
