Scoglio del Remaiolo

Also known as: Remaiolo rock · Scoglio di Remaiolo

The easier route circles the whole rock at 10 to 20 m among bream, octopus, morays, congers and nudibranchs. On the south side a coralligenous plateau at 12 to 14 m leads to a ridge whose sides fall vertically beyond 40 m, towards a deeper shoal covered with red gorgonians and yellow sponges. The south-western slope descends more gently and turns red with gorgonians from about 30 m. An old fishing net wrapped around the rock makes a photogenic subject. Dentex, barracuda, bonito and occasionally sunfish pass by.
