Sithanane Pare
Also known as: Sitharan Para · Sithanam Para
Sithanane Pare is a rocky ridge that starts around 5 m on top of the rocks and slopes to the sand at about 18 to 19 m, most of the dive being spent at 13 to 15 m. Soft and hard corals and sponges cover the rocks, with colourful Christmas tree worms a particular highlight. Scorpionfish, lionfish, stonefish, anemonefish, moray eels, barracuda, snappers, fusiliers and parrotfish are common. Blue-spotted stingrays, cuttlefish, garden eels and nudibranchs are also seen. Nilaveli centres rank it among the best sites in the area and use it for both students and experienced divers.
