Protector Reef

Also known as: Protector

Protector Reef encloses a lagoon and offers two main dives. On the north side a vertical wall leads to a shallow plateau with wreckage of an unknown ship, soft corals and large fan gorgonians on the outer wall. The south plateau descends in steps with coral blocks and whip corals, and Don Questo describes coral hills and crests forming small canyons between about 8 and 30 m. Whitetip and grey reef sharks, barracuda and jacks are common, while the deep outer wall at the southern tip is known for hammerhead and silky sharks and manta rays. Stronger currents should be expected on both plateaus.
