Dahrat Qab

Also known as: Dahrat Ghab · Dahret Ghab · Dahrat Qab Island

Dahrat Qab is a long, narrow island oriented west to east and covered in scrub. Its west side is a steep wall from 3 m that suits snorkellers as well. On the east side a plateau at about 25 m is lined by a coral crest, and a channel at its base can carry a very strong current. Soft corals and large sea fans are abundant, bumphead parrotfish and big groupers gather, and grey reef, silvertip and hammerhead sharks patrol the southern end, occasionally with a tiger shark. Turtles and manta rays pass through regularly.
