WIT Shoal II

Also known as: WIT Shoal · W.I.T. Shoal

The WIT Shoal II is a freighter built during the Second World War as a tank landing ship and later used between the islands. She sank in 1984 and now rests upright on sand west of Saba Island off St. Thomas. Several deck levels, open holds and passages let in plenty of light, and divers can drop through the smoke stack openings into the ship. Cup corals and sponges cover the hull, while barracuda, groupers, horse-eye jacks, eagle rays and turtles patrol it. Currents can be strong, so dive centres time the dive for slack water.
