Kennedy Barge

Also known as: The Kennedy · Kennedy Wreck

The Kennedy Barge was a landing-craft barge fitted with a concrete platform and used for people going to and from the USS John F. Kennedy. It sank one night off St. Thomas, turned over and lost its concrete deck, which now lies a short distance away; accounts of the cause differ, but the sources agree that the hull lies inverted on sand. Large southern stingrays rest on and around the barge, green and spotted morays live in it, and a field of garden eels stretches over the sand nearby. Dive centres describe it as an easy dive with hardly any current.
