Le Colonne
Also known as: Le Colonne di Carloforte
The dive starts at a small rock just off Punta delle Colonne. Underwater the rock continues as spurs and pinnacles that create gullies and steps to zigzag through, so divers need to keep their orientation. The site is sheltered from the mistral and can be dived when the weather rules out other places. Nudibranchs are the stars, with several species including flabellinas, together with encrusting sponges and yellow cluster anemones. Wrasse, small serranids, salema and two-banded seabream swarm around the scattered Posidonia.
