La Meda
Also known as: Secca dei Monaci Meda
The site is named after a large navigation beacon that once warned ships of the shallow ground before a storm destroyed it. The landscape is simpler than at La Spacca: mostly a wide plateau of rock rather than towers and clefts. In June and July stingrays come up from deeper water to breed and become frequent. Because the plateau lies far from land, larger pelagic fish can turn up at any time. When currents allow, drifting across the plateau is the preferred way to dive it.
