Klearcos Wreck

Also known as: Clearkos

The 74 m Greek freighter Klearcos caught fire and went down on 20 July 1979 while carrying steel drums of tetraethyl lead from Marseille to Piraeus, which earned her the nickname ship of poisons. According to Orso Diving the cargo has since been almost completely drained. The hull lies on its side on a muddy seabed at around 80 m, with the wreck reaching from 71 to 83 m. Tavolara Diving, which says its own area has few wrecks of interest, counts it among the two cargo wrecks it offers as technical dives. Orso Diving reaches it by boat in about an hour.
