Grotta del Tunnel

Also known as: Tunnel Cave · Il Tunnel · Tunnel del Sommergibile

The tunnel connects two inlets of Capo Caccia: the bay under the Escala del Cabirol and the cove on the side of the rock that local centres call the Submarine. Its ceilings are high, and white sand reflects sunlight so that the walls glow when torches are switched off. Side passages lead to small siphons, one of them with a stalactite column where divers can take out their regulator and talk. Yellow cluster anemones cover the walls, and groupers are often found on the southern side. Outside, the route can continue through a canyon towards the deep entrance of Nereo Cave.
