Faro dei Monaci
Also known as: Il Faro · Isola dei Monaci
The islet is said to owe its name to a former colony of Mediterranean monk seals. The dive starts in a small bay under the lighthouse on the south-west side and reaches around 30 m, where a small rocky shoal with red gorgonians rises from pale sand. A boulder slope from about 8 m down to the sand at 25 m is framed by ridges covered in sponges and sea daisies. Orso Diving notes that the east side, at 12 to 20 m, is full of ravines and small caves for macro life such as nudibranchs. Current can be present and is then used for an easy drift.
