Papua Passage

The site explores a natural opening in the reef with sand where eagle rays glide past. Shallow caverns filled with light are part of the passage, and giant star puffers are resident. Adventure Cook Islands rates it the best place on the island for turtles. Depths stay modest, so it is a popular second dive on the south side. Swimming further up the passage turns it into a drift on the way back out, and stronger currents add challenge and fish life.
