Avaavaroa Drop-Off

Divers follow a sand channel out from the reef until the wall falls away into what looks like a bottomless abyss. Whitetip reef sharks and eagle rays are common, and larger pelagics often pass in the distance. Adventure Cook Islands counts it among the best places on the island to meet tiger or hammerhead sharks. Like the Rutaki drop-off it is a spawning site for parrotfish.
