Avana Passage
Divers can explore the outside of the passage or swim or drift through it between the lagoon and the open sea. Large coral formations rise from the sand, among them an ancient Porites head that leans at 45 degrees and still grows. Two separate channels cut into the steep, sandy drop-off, and an underwater ridge runs about 100 m out between 30 and 45 m. Rock formations on the edges remind some divers of ancient ruins. Lionfish and eels are common, and sharks are seen cruising along the walls.
