Matavera Wall
The wall is reached by boat from Avana harbour and offers shelter when the weather comes from the north-west. Its face falls from the reef edge to somewhere between 35 and 50 m before the bottom slopes off and drops again much deeper. Sand pools at about 8 m make the top of the site usable for training dives. Moray eels and scorpionfish live on the wall, turtles are often seen in the shallows, and the water is usually very clear. It can be combined with the neighbouring Matavera Point.
