Koh Bida Nok
Also known as: Bida Nok
Bida Nok, the 'Outer Father', is the southern of the two Bida islets and is visited by local day boats as well as by Phuket day trips and liveaboards. Its cliffs drop steeply into deeper water and are draped in soft corals, sea fans, barrel sponges and colourful anemones. The south-west side holds the most striking rock formations, with boulders, overhangs and a vertical swim-through lit from above, while a narrow cave on the north side is only for divers with cavern training. Moray eels, lionfish, bearded scorpionfish, octopus and banded sea snakes live along the reef, and hawksbill turtles are often met there. Leopard sharks rest on the sand and blacktip reef sharks patrol the edges, and in some seasons manta rays and whale sharks pass by.
